Making Waves

In a brief moment of quiet, I'm sitting here reflecting on last couple of months. I can't believe it's already mid-March. Life has been moving so quickly in 2017 so far. I've made some big changes in the coming months, and for the first time in my life (closing in on 30..) I'm finding myself at a crossroads. On one hand, I feel God ever-present in my day-to-day - guiding me down a path of self-assurance and confidence. On the other hand, the earthly human in me is constantly shouting from inside that I'm absolutely crazy, begging me not to make such big waves with all the God has already blessed me with. After months of balancing my full time job and my independent consulting, it seems God isn't asking me to make sacrifices, or hard choices. Rather, it seems He's constantly opening doors and telling me "you can have it all. I built you for this."

Here's the deal - [rewind sound] I went to school to be an opera singer. When I finally realized that path wasn't a good fit for me, I moved on to the business side of the entertainment industry. The last decade has been a whirlwind - from event and video production, to advertising in the Hispanic market all the way to events and experiential marketing right here in whole life has culminated up to this very moment, and I'm standing here finally connecting the dots.

After taking on some extra projects over the last year, I learned a few things about myself. I am wildly passionate about the interior design industry and local businesses. I absolutely love to concept and develop marketing campaigns, social strategies and event programming. And I have a knack for making it all fit together extremely well.

So that brings me to right now. In January 2016 I told Chris, "Next January, I'll be working for myself." I'm finally taking that leap. I'm terrified to say the least, but I'm trusting God's plan. Why would he continue to open doors if He didn't want me to pursue them? I'm leaning in to my faith and my confidence in God's purpose for my life.

As of January 2017, The Southern Influence is more than just a blog and home store. It's a lifestyle consulting agency built to help boutique brands find and connect with the people that love their products. Everything from PR & consumer marketing strategy, to social media, graphic design and consumer marketing strategies to event planning, advertising and influencer marketing.

I'm so excited to see where the next year will lead, and I'm looking forward to sharing my journey of starting my own business, building my first proposals, gaining my first independent clients and the thrills of modern marketing in a media-centric landscape.

To see some of my upcoming work, stay tuned to my page and join me in watching these amazing businesses - who are now part of The Southern Influence family - grow!
